This current incarnation of Swans swim across the salty sea of the group's three-decade strong catalog, executing a balance of grind and grace that casts a new light on old classics.

Gira and company have put a lot of care into this project, crafting a beautifully-recorded, exquisitely-packaged set that stands as the obvious next best thing to actually seeing the band in the flesh.

This is not a live album, but an alive album, one of the most visceral, beautiful records you'll hear this year.

Loud, mean, and complicated, this six-piece is an articulate goliath, capable of drowning out Gira in waves before disappearing into pools of silence without warning. Each piece of this unit deserves mention.

A striking document of Swans' current live form. [Jul 2012, p.64]

While providing an exciting document of this stage of the band, We Rose From Your Bed… offers a tantalizing hint at what's to come.

We Rose From Your Bed may be a live album, but it's much more investigative and surprising than most live offerings.

Absolutely mind blowing, it shows Swans at the peak of their (reinvigorated) powers. Visceral as hell, but also intellectually challenging, it perfectly captures the extremely intense experience of watching them live in their last tour. The album rotates within itself, in growing circular and pulsating motion and, as the songs -old and/or recent, even unpublished- tower, expand and melt with each other, they resonate with unfathomable power -sourly bathed in vitriol, feedback and repetition- in ears and, even on top of that, brain. Serious candidate for album of the year... Collapse
