Side B is that bash: intimate yet inclusive, with an invitation personally delivered by hand.

Unlike many B-side collections, much of E•MO•TION: Side B has single potential to the point where it's crazy that high-energy synth-pop gems like "First Time," "Higher" and "Body Language" were left off of E•MO•TION for mid-tempo bonus cuts like "Black Heart."

Carly Rae captures the glitz and glamour and grime and sex and directionless sadness and anxiety of her listeners so, so well, and the way it’s wrapped up in an endlessly compelling composition of synth jams, funk accessories, and modern electro-pop makes it even better.

Even if it's not as full of surprises as the original album was, E-MO-TION [Side B] might be even more cohesive--and should delight fans of perfectly crafted pop just as much.

That the songs can sound enormous while maintaining this kind of person-to-person intimacy is Jepsen’s particular talent.

The success of Emotion and its predecessor, Kiss, was a product of balance. ... Side B does not find that balance, and is most instructive in the ways it illuminates her process. It lets us peek in on the misfits that are the product of every pop album, and hints at the unsexy labor of music-making.

A compliation of the best of the 80s that takes less than an hour to fall in love with it.
    Highlights: Fever, Roses, Cry.

Releasing Side B in August, this 8-songs thrills-packed compilation may be the best soundtrack for the end of the summer, EVER. The songs don't even feel like left-overs from her sophomore record (which was also absolutely brilliant) and the feelings explored throughout the EP are relatable and fun. CRJ's vocal performance is on point, and the mixing of shiny productions with fun-but-also-profoundly-smart lyrics make the whole concept of Side B a manifestation of pop-perfection. All of the 8 songs are absolute highlights. Bravo! Expand

é uma continuação que poderia até mesmo ser o sucessor do ótimo "Emotion", mesmo que com o mesmo conceito, não teria problema nenhum.

I swear that if this had been released in that era it'd made her the queen of pop. The best of all it's that she gives lots of good vibes without getting painfully commercial, just fun and bubbly lyrics. For being an EP of leftovers of EMOTION, this could actually be her third album and I wouldn't be mad at all. I hope she continues to grow musically and keeps surprising with great tunes. Expand
